Hi, I’m Kanon Goto.

Welcome to Japan Easy Guide.

If this is your first trip to Japan, you may already be planning transportation, internet access, hotels, or payment methods. You may also be wondering what you should prepare before departure and what can wait until after you arrive.

I started Japan Easy Guide because I wanted to make those decisions easier.

Japan is an amazing country to visit, but some things can feel confusing at first. Train stations can be huge, transportation options can seem overwhelming, and everyday systems may work differently from what visitors are used to.

My goal is simple: to help first-time visitors understand Japan more easily and travel with less stress.

Why I Started This Site

Before traveling to a new country, most people have questions.

When I look at travel forums and travel-related discussions, I often see visitors asking similar things:

  • What should I prepare before departure?
  • What should I book before arriving in Japan?
  • What can wait until after I arrive?
  • Which option fits my situation?
  • What should I do first after landing?

There is no shortage of information about Japan.

In fact, there is often too much information.

I started Japan Easy Guide to help travelers cut through that information and focus on what is actually useful for their trip.

Rather than trying to cover everything, I try to answer the practical questions that visitors face before and during their journey.

A Local Japanese Perspective

As someone who lives in Japan, I understand many things that local residents naturally know but visitors may not.

For example, the nearest station is not always the most convenient one. The station exit, transfer route, elevators, and walking distance can make a big difference, especially when carrying luggage.

Japan is also more card-friendly than many visitors expect, but cash is still useful in some situations. IC cards are convenient, but they do not replace every train ticket.

These are small details, but they can make a big difference when you are traveling.

Whenever I write a guide, I try to explain how Japan actually works in real travel situations, not just how it works in theory.

A Traveler’s Perspective

I also know that arriving in a new country can be stressful.

After a long flight, most travelers do not want to spend an hour comparing transportation options or figuring out how everything works.

They want to get online, reach their hotel, handle their luggage, and start enjoying their trip.

In those situations, the cheapest option is not always the best option.

Sometimes the easiest option is worth more than saving a small amount of money.

That idea influences many of the guides on this site.

When I explain different options, I try to think about what I would want to know if I were arriving in a new country for the first time.

My Goal

Japan Easy Guide is built on two perspectives:

  • A local Japanese perspective that explains how Japan works.
  • A traveler’s perspective that understands the challenges of arriving in an unfamiliar country.

By combining these perspectives, I hope to make Japan easier to understand and easier to enjoy.

If these guides help you feel more prepared before your trip, less confused after you arrive, and more confident while traveling around Japan, then I have achieved what I set out to do.

Thank you for visiting Japan Easy Guide.

I hope the information on this site helps make your trip smoother, easier, and more enjoyable.
