Shibuya is one of the most popular areas to stay in Tokyo, especially for first-time visitors. It offers excellent transportation, countless restaurants and shops, and easy access to many of Tokyo’s most famous attractions.
If you want to experience the energy of Tokyo while staying in a convenient location, Shibuya is an excellent choice. This guide explains why Shibuya is a great area to stay, introduces one of its most iconic hotels, and shares my own experience staying at two hotels in the area.

Why Stay in Shibuya?
Shibuya is a great area if you want to experience one of Tokyo’s most exciting neighborhoods while staying somewhere with excellent transportation.
From Shibuya Station, you can easily reach popular destinations such as Shinjuku, Harajuku, Omotesando, Ebisu, Roppongi, and Tokyo Station.
The area also has countless restaurants, cafés, convenience stores, department stores, and drugstores, making it easy to find everything you need during your stay.
The main thing to know is that Shibuya is always busy. The station is very large, and the streets can be crowded, especially in the evening. If you prefer a quieter atmosphere, another area may suit you better.

Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel
Cerulean Tower Tokyu Hotel is one of the most representative luxury hotels in Shibuya. Although it is only a short walk from Shibuya Station, it is located in a quieter part of the neighborhood, offering a more relaxed atmosphere.
One of the hotel’s unique features is its Noh Theatre, where guests can experience one of Japan’s oldest traditional performing arts. It is a rare opportunity to enjoy an aspect of Japanese culture without leaving the hotel.
The views are another highlight. On a clear day, you may even be able to see Mount Fuji from your room, depending on the weather and room location. Combined with panoramic views of Tokyo’s skyline, it offers one of the most memorable hotel experiences in Shibuya.
My Personal Recommendation
Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu
I have stayed at Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu, and it is one of the hotels I would confidently recommend to first-time visitors.
Its biggest advantage is the location. The hotel is directly connected to Shibuya Station, making it extremely convenient when arriving with luggage and when exploring Tokyo by train.
One of my favorite parts of staying here was the view. Looking down on the famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing from above is a unique experience and gives you a completely different perspective on one of Japan’s most iconic landmarks.
Airport Limousine Buses also stop nearby, making travel to and from the airport even easier.
If convenience and an unforgettable view of Shibuya are your priorities, this hotel is an excellent choice.
sequence MIYASHITA PARK
I have also stayed at sequence MIYASHITA PARK and really enjoyed the experience.
The hotel is directly connected to MIYASHITA PARK, a modern complex with restaurants, cafés, shops, and public spaces. It has a stylish atmosphere that feels very different from a traditional hotel.
Another memorable feature is the view. Looking down over MIYASHITA PARK from the hotel gives you a unique perspective of one of Shibuya’s newest landmarks and makes the stay feel even more connected to the neighborhood.
Although it is a little farther from Shibuya Station than Shibuya Excel Hotel Tokyu, it is still within comfortable walking distance for most visitors.
I think this hotel is especially suitable for couples, younger travelers, and anyone looking for a modern stay in Shibuya.
